The teenage boys aren't the only ones who miss the "sex" songs. I give Liz credit for moving past what made her an underground sexual icon and continuing to write her own style of honest, personal songs. I'm just disappointed that this collection doesn't provide the same kind of magic mirror for me that Exile in Guyville did. But basking in the strengths of this album make it relatively easy to move past the discontentment. I just plain love to immerse myself in these songs, singing as loud as my neighbors will let me. Most fabulous moments: The quirky syncopated vocal structure of "Fantasize" and the genuine refrain of "Perfect World": "I wanna be cool, tall, vulnerable, and luscious." So do we all.
