Come ... Gently Down the Stream
Matador Records
There are days when I can hear the quiet beginning of "Saints Around My Neck" following me around corners and under bridges. Hesitating. Meandering. The title and cover art of Gently Down the Stream say almost as much as the music itself, setting the scene for a wall of noise that washes over the listener with an intense calming effect. This record proves to be a passionately whole, each song melting into the one that follows, lulling me into retrospect. Quote: "Anger and beauty, hope and sadness, fear and transcendence--that's just some of the terrain that Come have covered in the course of an album, a song, or even just a riff." Matt Ashare. Absolutely.
