A one-inch wind-up car, a spiral notebook, an Edward Hopper mouse pad, and a plastic shark toy on stick provide entertainment late one Friday afternoon. Not in a toy store, but rather on an office cubicle desktop, beneath fluorescent lights. Other office workers peered around the plants to see what all the noise was about. The vehicle's miniscule engine screamed as it was propelled across the desk, up the makeshift notebook ramp, and into the air. The shark leapt, biting at a now-airborne, miniature Volkswagon. A scenic mouse pad backdrop added even more to the temporary escape from reality.
