waiting...

Paging through The Federalist Papers on Saturday, I asked Barry, "What am I going to do with this obsession?" He said to simply wait it out two or three years until a new one takes over. Not quite the answer I was looking for.

motto...

Tonight Todd grabbed a sheet of paper from the printer to make a sketch of a graphic we were looking at online. His sudden forgetfulness of technology inspired me to say: "Low-tech solutions for a high-tech world." It sounded so catchy and ridiculous that we couldn't stop laughing.

action-packed...

A busy weekend of breakfasts, dinners, tea, and cocktails. It was just go go go... and felt good good good.

shared cravings...

Howard wrote to tell me that he also has a strange fascination with Sex and the City. He says: "I think my favorite part of the whole show is that Carrie smokes -- she smokes when she ice skates, she smokes while playing spin-the-bottle -- I'm sure she would smoke in the shower if she could. It's nice to see someone portray a shameless smoker, the likes of which hasn't been seen since Bette Davis." I love the way my friends see life.

premature parting...

Eight minutes before the time ran out on my cell phone the other night, I told Michael that we had to say goodbye in the middle of our conversation, to keep from feeling empty and unfulfilled when the phone suddenly went dead mid-thought. I still felt that way, though. A little lost and sad, staring at my phone's "TANK EMPTY" message and wishing I could call him back.

scratch that off my list...

While walking across the bridge in the Public Garden today I told Laine, Debbie, and Erika that I wanted to take a ride in a Swan Boat before I moved from Boston. Suddenly we were seated on one of the boat's benches watching a dog owner drag her pet from the murky water and ducks copulate under the gaze of a zillion laughing tourists. Well worth my $2.00.

happiest of happy birthdays...

Today my eternally young mother turns 66. She'll probably celebrate the occasion by downloading more songs from Napster and making CDs or roughing up the neighbors at a town council meeting. Whatever you're doing today Mopes, I hope you're enjoying your day!
