2:00 p.m.

in my cd player...

Belle and Sebastian
"Beautiful" and "Put the Book Back on the Shelf"

on the page...

Akhil Reed Amar
The Bill of Rights

on the big screen...

Chuck and Buck

The ending was a little too tied-together for me, but otherwise a very fabulously disturbing film filled with uncomfortable silence. It's the anti-action thriller of the summer.

back in town...

Long lost MEDITECHer, Pet*ah Camp, has abandoned the Olympics and Lake Union and rejoined the humid Northeast as a web guru just a few towns away from here. Comforting in the weirdest way.

deli haus...

I'm not sure if it's the chrome coat racks or the duct tape on the ultra-old benches, but I find this diner ultimately charming. One of the few places in town that mix breakfast, dessert, cocktails, and atmosphere past 1 a.m.

processions...

I've passed two funeral processions on my way to work this week. It's a little disconcerting.

substitutions...

Instead of writing him a long overdue letter, I'm sending snippets of myself on postcards. Delightful and surprising, but not quite the same.

somewhat of a week of jubilee...

NBC aired four episodes of The West Wing this week... and while I'm happy to see them enthusiastically behind this phenomenal piece of weekly entertainment... I'm just sad because they showed episodes I already have on tape.

the mystery machine...

Apparently, Todd associates the semi-word "dag-nabbit" with the adventures of Scooby Doo... as he ended his last message to me containing said word with "If it weren't for those meddling kids, I would have gotten away with it, too!"

heart... fonder... etc...

Yeah, I was gone. Well, I never really left, but I did keep my mouth shut for about a week. I just get drop-out-itis every now and then. But it goes away. Eventually.
