on laine's television...
terrible ohio state football;
the bloomberg inauguration;
three different broadcasts of the rose parade;
nathan lane in a baseball hat;
reruns of Alias;
scary joan rivers;
german strongmen
Laine and I have the same short attention span and love of the remote.

on the page...
the January issue of Dwell magazine
Bathroom renovations, the perfect silverware, web designers shopping at World Market. It's like an upscale, actually interesting version of MTV's Cribs.

back in a jif...
Five kinds of new year's day sausages, eggs, and biscuits are calling our hungover, hungry mungry selves.

clog, wealth, scents, and magic...
Mmmmm... sausages. And Laine came home between dinner and drinks last night to throw some silver coins outside her door to bring in the wealth. We're burning a bayberry incense stick in place of a candle, and now we just peeled back the first day of Laine's "spell-a-day" calendar. All new years superstitions accounted for.

5 for 5...
Mom and I rewarded our long day of Christmas shopping with a screening of Vanilla Sky. Cameron Crowe. Dreamy cinematography. Peter Gabriel's "Solisbury Hill". One of the best messages ever. Perfect.

location is everything...
This afternoon, after the sausage settles, Laine and I are visiting her newest neighborhood gem, Alice's Tea Cup, for a lie surely bit of afternoon tea. Laine says it's just NYC's little Christmas present just for her. Happy, happy tea cups.

a need on two distinct levels...
I just found out that the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) journalism award is an Alexander Calder abstract statue of an elephant, called the ellie. Ummm. I need one of those.
