another bride, another june  ::

I feel like Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride, "Let me explain. No there is too much. Let me sum up."

There is so so so much. The 38-hour-straight move from DC to Boston, the visiting with friends, the wedding prep with Erika, the ring polishing and endless honeymoon shopping, the actual, beautiful, blissfully perfect wedding ceremony, the Magnolia Bakery cupcakes, the wedding calamari at Pomodoro, the bloody mary newlywed brunch at Spire, the napping on the lawn next to the Eiffel Tower, the dinners at Velly, the hours in the Louvre, the wine, baguette, and cheese on the lawn of the Sacre Cour, the nearly missing our train to Nice, the Fruits de Mer at Le Safari, the topless sunbathing on the Côte d'Azur, the adventure through the French countryside in the Fiat Panda, the almost-running-out-of-gas-in-the-Pyrenees-Mountains, the 18 hours in Boston, the trip to Ohio, the family arrivals, the sunny daisy flower arrangements in the middle of a thunderstorm, the romantic, candlelit atmosphere at our Peter Shear's Downtown reception, the perfect-if-contentious wedding cake, the visits with family and friends, the Moët White Star champagne, and the gracious toasts, and the amazingly delicious dinner.

Just another bride, just another June. But here is one of my favorite glimpses that shows just how much fun this roller coaster has been.

I was back at work on Tuesday, while B hosted his family in Boston-- touring the Freedom Trail, the Minute Man trail, and just generally spending good family time together. We said goodbye to them on Friday morning, and once we checked into our sixth hotel in a month, we basically slept until this afternoon.

Mmmmmmmm... sleep.

We found an apartment for August 1, which we will occupy while we continue to watch the housing market and get B settled into school and work. It's in a great little house nestled between our core Natick/Wayland friends, which delights us (and them) to no end. And so although we're in a hotel for now-- our belongings scattered among cars and storage units-- I'm feeling settled in ways that I never felt in DC.

So good to be back.
